AAUCM Degree of Fellow
The Degree of Fellow was established by the American Academy of
Urgent Care Medicine to recognize members who have distinguished
themselves among their colleagues by their participation in
activities outside their medical practice. They have shown
themselves to be exemplary physicians dedicated to education,
the community and their profession. As a conferred Fellow of the
American Academy of Urgent Care Medicine, these honored
individuals are entitled to all the honors and privileges
bestowed by this degree.
When Do I Receive a Certificate Recognizing this Degree?
Fellows receive the Fellowship certificate after attending
the Fellowship convocation, held at the Academy's annual
convention. There is no additional charge for rental of cap and
gown for this academic event. A press release for your hometown
newspaper is available at the convention. Brochures explaining
the meaning of the degree to your patients are also available.
You may request, in writing, an exception from the Academy.
Provided that your situation meets the requirements below, you
will receive the certificate in absentia.
Those who are personally or whose family members are
suffering from a serious and continuing illness or those with a
physical disability. Those physicians whose absence would
present a hardship to their patients. Those physicians who are
residing outside of the United States or its territories. Those
physicians who are celebrating a religious holiday on the
convocation date. Failure to attend a ceremony without obtaining
an absentia status will in no way alter your Fellowship status.
It only means that you will not receive your certificate until
such time as it is convenient for you to do so.
Your certificate will be mailed to you six to eight weeks
after the convocation ceremony.
